Welcome to Authors in Bloom, a place-based critical writing program for youth on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Whether to boost a youth's college application or to nurture their personal growth, it serves as an affordable educational source as opposed to the steep cost typical of private secondary schools.

Our writing course is based on site inside the Peabody Essex Museum in order to have a direct relationship with a variety of objects and spaces. The museum houses historical collections, contemporary exhibitions and site-specific installations. All are utilized by the writing program to stimulate students to approaches to thinking through numerous critical frameworks. Unlike online programs, often generic and targeted to a mass audience, it is on-site and in-person. Students work directly with the instructor and the objects/locations in question.

Please note that this program is not sponsored by the PEM. It takes advantage of the generosity of its donors, curators and staff, but is not an official program.
